Often times when speaking with C-level executives I hear a jaded view on revenue in general. Most executives feel that sales forgives all sins and that top line revenue is king. But is it?

Because at the end of the day it’s how profitable you run your business that truly makes the difference. Those individuals which understand that both top line revenue and bottom line profits are equally important in every business, truly separates great leaders from mediocre ones when it comes to running a profit driven organization.

Cost reduction is important in business because it directly impacts the bottom line at no cost to an organization. (Unlike sales, which has direct material, labor, facilities, marketing, commissions, management, and administrative costs). By reducing costs, a company can increase its profitability and improve its financial health. This is especially important in times of economic uncertainty or when facing increased competition.

Additionally, cost reduction can help a company become more efficient and agile, allowing it to respond more quickly to changes in the market. While top line revenue is important for growth, it is not sustainable if costs are not managed effectively. To draw an analogy, simply put “why would you place water into a leaky bucket?”

Therefore, a true balance between revenue growth and cost reduction is necessary for increase valuation and long-term success.

“OWL Be There for You” was developed in 2013, by the marketing and administration team at Limitless Technology ~ CRS. Todd Larsen, CEO of Limitless Technology, explains “What drew us to create our own charitable project was our passion to help others, our employee’s desires, and my own passions being very diverse. We had difficulty finding one charity that encompasses many different charitable issues and causes. The benefit of OWL Be There for You is our employees get to choose the issue they have passion for, and are able to develop their own focuses under the umbrella of OWL Be There for You.”

Why The OWL?

Each aspect of the logo and name has a unique meaning of what OWL Be There for You represents. Todd declared, “Our Company has always had a strong focus on Green business and conservation, which is represented by the letters O.W.L: the letter “O” stands for Oxygen, “W” for Water, and “L” for Land.” He went on to describe the CRS owls in the logo stand for Care, Reach, Save; which is a calling to Care for Someone, Reach out to Someone, and Save Someone. Todd explained, “The OWLs represent what all of us a LT~CRS care about most, people. We seek to assist those who are underprivileged, needy, impaired, or suffering from life threatening illnesses.”

What Are You Working On?

OWL Be There for You is currently focusing on Todd’s campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Todd is challenging himself to raise the most money possible from February 19th to May 1st, 2014 to aid in blood cancer research. He was personally drawn to this project because cancer has not only severely affected his personal life, but the lives of millions.

“Cancer has affected my family in the loss of my mother, my uncle, and my two cousins. At the time that my older cousin Anita Beth, a mother with a 4 year old girl Kati, died from her rare blood cancer, there were only thirty known cases in the world. Treatments that exist now may have extended or saved her life. The recent loss of a very good friend, Jim Bartoli, to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma pushed me towards running for “Man of the Year” to generate as much income as possible for blood cancer research.”

How Can I Help?

The ways that our virtual community can help are through donations and gifts in kind. If you are in the Orlando area and like golf, LT~CRS is also hosting a charity golf tournament where all profits go to LLS. If you would like to learn more, call 866-504-4050 or visit Owlbethereforyou.com for details.

Wouldn’t you agree…?

…Most organizations have wonderful personnel that each and every day go to work giving their absolute best effort to ensure a company is working efficiently.

Whether you agree or not, I believe understanding efficiency is knowing exactly what that word or term means. Let’s look at the dictionary definition:

ef·fi·cien·cy

// Show Spelled [ih-fish–uh                         n-see] Show IPA

noun, plural ef·fi·cien·cies.

1. the state or quality of being efficient; competency in performance

2. accomplishment of or ability to accomplish a job with a minimum expenditure of time and effort: The assembly line increased industry’s efficiency.

3. the ratio of the work done or energy developed by a machine, engine, etc., to the energy supplied to it, usually expressed as a percentage.

4. efficiency apartment.

So now we know what the definition of efficiency is…so let’s look at the most important key to the definition as it is defined, and according to what I will call employed expectation.

Most Companies believe their employees should know near everything about their job function. And while this is an incredible ideal, would you say it is realistic? Most Companies believe their employees have a deep level of knowledge, which in truth, is difficult to obtain or is unavailable to them. In telecom it would be in some areas such as:

constantly changing pricing

competitive pricing

new product and services

vendor margin modeling

vendor cost allocations

affimity discount programs

vertical discount programs

taxation differentiations

tariff rates

USOC codes

USF rate charges

CSR reports

CDR reports

Utilization Reports

Then if they made available to them how do they decipher the information, and how long will a Company give the employee to not only learn, but perform this function when they have multiple other job duties which may be considered to have higher priorities. Most often learning of his kind is not in the employees training, mentoring or readily available to them. Yet it is expected by many Companies the employee(s) deliver on an ongoing basis, effective and efficient procured services which are optimized. So wouldn’t this contradict the first belief?

And…often times Companies burden their employees with the fear of failure in these types of disciplines, because the employees feel they should have their “Companies best interest in mind at all times”. What is not realized, is that employees do have best interests in mind. So the struggle remains between levels of expertise, capabilities and what is most important to accomplish that day. This often detracts from an employee being able to provide additional efficiencies and effectiveness for Company’s billings regarding their products or services.

Highlighted above is the key to efficiency ” to accomplish a job with a minimum expenditure of time and effort”. If a capability does not inherently exist within a Company, and is not already a part of the process and being performed in a machine like manner….Wouldn’t it go to say that some services are much better off being outsourced than in-sourced?

Remember…when you are making the decisions that impact the profitability, effectiveness and efficiency within your business unit or for your entire Company, find the expertise that will ensure efficiency in what you are trying to accomplish.

I fixed one of my outside sprinklers this past weekend. It wasn’t completely broken; in fact, it performed its main function okay. The timer went off, the water came out and the plants got wet. But apparently the PVC had become brittle and a significant leak began to occur draining resource in some areas and over watering where the leak was occurring– nothing major, we were probably losing 50 gallons of water 3 x per week.

The bad part was this must have gone on for many weeks, because it wasn’t noticed until there was a hole blown through the earth. So, once I noticed the issue, I had the sprinkler repaired by an expert so I was sure it would be done right. I asked him if there was a way he could have detected them sooner, and he defined a process and procedure on how they detect leaks and repair them before the customer like me received a giant bill. My expert also said why not all customers have them, it was good to check on e a year for a fee, or monthly fora smaller but more regular checking to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

After the repair, and my conversation with the repair company, I thought about what that leak meant to me. It was only about a little water, so it didn’t seem like much of an issue. Then I started to do the math: I was losing near 150 gallons of water per week. That was 600 gallons of water each month, or 7200 gallons a year! Every day that I didn’t repair it, another 20 gallons of water lost. What a waste. And…It hadn’t dawned on me that the water I was losing meant money out of my pocket. (I get my water bill only once a quarter, so out of sight, out of mind). Then my water bill came: The utility devised a new rate based on the amount of water used. I was now paying for that leak in two separate places, and paying big over an $800 jump in my bill!!!

My sprinkler dilemma reminded me of how many organizations handle their telecom billing. For instance, most companies don’t notice their bills have changed and wonder why their bills are higher. The difference starts small and goes on in multiple areas of their business.

These charges are…Hidden in landline services, misunderstood on Internet rates, never noticed at the setup of the original billing, in 3rd party slamming and cramming charges, and many other areas. And even when a “leak” on a bill is noticed, trying to work with the provider to get it removed is cumbersome and frustrating at best. (Not as nice as working with my professional irrigation company).

Yet…medium and large companies sometimes lose hundreds of dollars a day, thousands a week, $10’s of thousands a month and yes even $100’s of thousands of dollars per year with these billing errors!!!

Hopefully you won’t let your Company suffer these expensive and wasteful “leaks” , and you will make sure you get an expert to help you ensure it won’t continue to cost you money that you’re not even aware of losing.

Every carrier sells a bundle as a money saving option, but does bundling really save your business money?

In some cases yes and in some cases no. The key is to know exactly what services are included in the bundle and what actual costs they are adding for those services.

Example: the carrier bundles a phone line with what they call “unlimited long distance”.

What is not normally known is that unlimited long distance is being charged at on average of $15 to $20 dollars per line. At an average long distance rate of 5 cents per minute this is not paid for until you have used 300-400 minutes of long distance. If you are not doing at least that much long distance, you are literally giving money to the carrier.

So to answer the question yes, bundles can save you money. However, you need to know exactly what is included and that the services being offered are actually services you benefit from.

Hint for Saving Money on your DSL: “DSL” or Digital subscriber line: a technology that allows high-speed transmission of text, audio, and video, usually over standard telephone lines

Has your Business had to call your local phone service provider to add internet or DSL to your account?

Are you aware that DSL can run over a basic phone or fax line, and that many times they add not only the DSL service but an additional voice line for the DSL to run over?

This additional $30 to $45 dollar expense can be easily avoided by, always requesting that the DSL service be added to an existing line such as your fax or alarm line; both of which can co-exist on the same telephone line. Faxes and modems use voice frequencies and are thus unaffected by your DSL service (Note: a filter may need to be added in some situations). By doing this you have cut your line costs or overall DSL expense, sometimes as much as in half, without affecting any of your existing services.

While each of us has our own opinion on the solutions to the financial burden plaguing America, the bottom line for why it’s happening is simple… We stopped controlling costs, and created policies that deepened debt.

1. Okay…now what???

2. What do we do?

3. How afraid should we be?

4. What can we control?

Here are some thoughts on how we can start making all of our holidays brighter and improving our countries economic future:

1. Voting better from now on and more often. How does one vote better? Well, voting better comes from research and understanding what’s happening in the country from a go forward political platform, while paying attention to historically relevant activities of the people we are voting for in their current roles. [There is another option however, if you don’t want to understand the issues and simply have an extra $16 trillion you can give to the Government]

If you are already doing this (the research and understanding part)…hurray you’re already making a difference. If you have decided to just give the money…then thank you for reading my newsletter Mr. Warren Buffet.

2. Understanding what is happening economically. As Henry Ford said, “It is well enough that the people of this nation do not understand our banking or monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” Understanding the country’s finances gives you the best chance to be proactive vs. reactive when making decisions that impact your financial futures, possibly creating a beneficial economic revolution.

3. Depends. We should probably fear what we don’t know…but to avoid that, take out the time to build a plan to cover your down-side risk. If you feel insecure about building it yourself, get a financial professional to help you understand, and make some better or stronger choices for your personal and business future.

4. Starting with Ourselves and our Companies. And… a good start would be to take action now both personally and in business to best leverage your available assets. Protect yourself from the downside. Don’t stop spending; just don’t spend more money than you should for what you have, or better yet things that don’t enrich your potential.

Maybe what we should be really asking ourselves is how can we get involved locally to help increase “our collective voice of reason”? This question and answer benefits our future generation’s capabilities to make better choices and changes than…hmmmm maybe we, and our elected officials have in the past.

Oh yeah…you may be asking right now, “what about that Gift you mentioned?” Well, in my humble opinion this nation’s current financial cliff makes us take a deeper look at what is really going on, what changes are being made, and how they personally affect us. The real gift is that knowledge will bring better choices and changes that we will make in the future.

And while you may not fully agree with a single opinion, you have to agree better choices and better changes always create less stress and better possible gifts in the future.

What are your thoughts?

So this December is going to be tough on the energy bill. We all know that lighting your house up like the Vegas Strip costs an arm, a leg, and some other things you’d rather not lose as well. So the experts at Limitless Technology CRS have come up with some simple solutions to save you money during the year, so you can splurge a little during the holiday season. Here is a list of the simplest money savers we could find.

1. Wrap your water heater in an insulation jacket- During the holidays we all get chilly, and your water heater is no exception. Any water heater model older than a 2004 loses energy through heat escaping its shell. If you wrap the water heater in insulation, the energy will be trapped and you will save about 30 dollars per year.

2. Use weather strips- Just like heat escapes your water heater, it also escapes your house. Your house has many nooks and crannies in which heat escapes. One of the biggest problems is heat walks right out your front door, or maybe it creeps under it. Usually people use weather strips up north in extremely cold weather, but even in Florida, weather strips can save you 30 dollars per year. They even can keep your air conditioning in your house in the hot summer months!

3. Tune your furnace- Every few years, you should get your furnace checked by a professional. It will impact your bill in a small way, reducing it only about 10%. However, it also is a big help to your carbon emissions. When your furnace is tuned, it emits about 1,250lbs LESS carbon than an untuned furnace. Talk about taking a few sizes off your carbon footprint.

All of these solutions save you money, but looking at a bigger picture they also help conserve our environment. People often think that being green means changing all your appliances and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars. Actually, little changes can make the biggest differences. Every penny you save on your heating and electricity equates to a more energy efficient and less polluting environment. So this holiday season give Mother Nature and your wallet the best gift you can give, a little extra effort to make some small house improvements.

Thankfully, no one is hurt but your car is severely damaged. The driver who hit you then turns to you and says “I do not have insurance.” Uninsured drivers have become a severe issue in the United States and United Kingdom, but the UK is trying to do something about it.

Approximately 4% of the United Kingdom’s population drives uninsured. The United Kingdom already have CCTV cameras that monitor gas stations customers to make sure they do not steal gas. Now, after a proposal from Ernst & Young, they are utilizing those cameras to also make sure uninsured drivers can’t fill up.

Now uninsured drivers will be caught in the act and be barred from fueling up until their information is recorded. For insured drivers, no record of the customer’s car will be kept.

Isn’t it great that any government cares enough about its good citizens to monitor and stop those who can hurt them? And…Wouldn’t it be great to have a company that guards good companies against wrong billings and corrects them without causing those companies any stress?

Limitless Technology CRS can do just that, but with even less effort for the customer (unlike customers in the UK who may have to wait behind an uninsured driver who can’t fill up at gas stations). With no upfront cost, and with no risk to you…we take your business’ bills and find all those errors and extras fees that cost your company money. Limitless Technology CRS makes sure you know every correction before the corrections are made.

BOTTOM LINE We Improve BOTTOM LINES at no inconvenience to you!

Regardless of our reader’s or our political views, we would like to congratulate our new president. Both candidates ran excellent races and Limitless Technology CRS respects both men. What Limitless Technology CRS really wants to stress is how, now that Obama is elected, does he plan to save your families and our businesses money?

Your Family– Obama plans to extend the payroll tax cuts. What does this mean? This means that employees in the past paid 6.2% towards payroll cuts and now will pay 3.2%. This simple action will save families $1,500 annually.

If You Have A Small Business– Obama plans to include small business in the payroll tax cuts for the first 5 million dollars of their payroll. They will not have to pay the full 6.2% until the have exceeded their first 50 million dollars net increase in the company’s payroll.

Way To Save on Employment with Obama- Hire a veteran! It is a patriotic way to support your troops and it can also save your company money. If a veteran has been unemployed for six months or more and your company employs them, your company can save upwards of $9,000 dollars on tax deductions.

These are just a few of his ways to save, and each can have positive or negative effect on the economy based on the decisions of US citizens. Limitless Technology CRS however, can only improve your company’s bottom line and welfare.
