Recently, AT&T has been under fire for misleading its customers on several of its program’s pricing strategies. Additionally, the FTC just discovered that AT&T is also affecting how a customer’s data functions in order to reduce AT&T’s data costs.

AT&T has developed the promotion of the Unlimited Data plan which is supposed to charge a relatively low flat rate for all the data usage the customer needs in a month without charging them overages. This is a highly competitive tactics since other telecommunications providers say that there are too many costs associated with unlimited data problems.

Seems too good to be true? Well, the Federal Trade Commission says that it is. Based on FTC research, AT&T is being sued for mis-advertising the unlimited data plan. Apparently, once the customer gets to a certain level of data, the service slows up to 90% of the speed, making it impossible for customers to use the data quickly and forcing them to either wait for their connection or give up and stop using it. The barrier ensures that AT&T does not have to pay excess costs for data, essentially setting a technical limit on an unlimited plan. This technique is called throttling and it is not legal. It is illegal because AT&T is telling customers that they will get the same access to unlimited amounts of data, but really they are guilty of false advertising by making it impossible to use the data (even though technically they are providing unlimited data to the user).

Although this is frustrating for an individual AT&T user, it could be detrimental to businesses using AT&T services. Businesses rely on access to large amounts of mobile data to speak, present, and share information with clients. The unlimited data plan is enticing because business owners and corporations generally use a large amount of data. However, AT&T’s tactic ensures that business communication will slow and valuable partnerships could potentially end because of lack of response.

In many articles, I speak of how important it is to monitor costs. However, it is also important to know the company providing a service respects you and your business. Telecom providers often are not seen as partners to a business because they are a necessity. However, you need to remember that you are a client to them and their main focus should be to make their service work best for your business, not to make money. Make sure that those you form business relationships with are serving your best interests, or find another resource that wants to see their client’s succeed.

What Is It?

“OWL Be There for You” was developed in 2013, by the marketing and administration team at Limitless Technology ~ CRS. Todd Larsen, CEO of Limitless Technology, explains “What drew us to create our own charitable project was our passion to help others, our employee’s desires, and my own passions being very diverse. We had difficulty finding one charity that encompasses many different charitable issues and causes. The benefit of OWL Be There for You is our employees get to choose the issue they have passion for, and are able to develop their own focuses under the umbrella of OWL Be There for You.”

Why The OWL?

Each aspect of the logo and name has a unique meaning of what OWL Be There for You represents. Todd declared, “Our Company has always had a strong focus on Green business and conservation, which is represented by the letters O.W.L: the letter “O” stands for Oxygen, “W” for Water, and “L” for Land.” He went on to describe the CRS owls in the logo stand for Care, Reach, Save; which is a calling to Care for Someone, Reach out to Someone, and Save Someone. Todd explained, “The OWLs represent what all of us a LT~CRS care about most, people. We seek to assist those who are underprivileged, needy, impaired, or suffering from life threatening illnesses.”

What Are You Working On?

OWL Be There for You is currently focusing on Todd’s campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Todd is challenging himself to raise the most money possible from February 19th to May 1st, 2014 to aid in blood cancer research. He was personally drawn to this project because cancer has not only severely affected his personal life, but the lives of millions.

“Cancer has affected my family in the loss of my mother, my uncle, and my two cousins. At the time that my older cousin Anita Beth, a mother with a 4 year old girl Kati, died from her rare blood cancer, there were only thirty known cases in the world. Treatments that exist now may have extended or saved her life. The recent loss of a very good friend, Jim Bartoli, to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma pushed me towards running for “Man of the Year” to generate as much income as possible for blood cancer research.”

How Can I Help?

The ways that our virtual community can help are through donations and gifts in kind. If you are in the Orlando area and like golf, LT~CRS is also hosting a charity golf tournament where all profits go to LLS. If you would like to learn more, call 866-504-4050 or visit Owlbethereforyou.com for details. You can also donate now through the LLS website!

While each of us has our own opinion on the solutions to the financial burden plaguing America, the bottom line for why it’s happening is simple… We stopped controlling costs, and created policies that deepened debt.

1. Okay…now what???

2. What do we do?

3. How afraid should we be?

4. What can we control?

Here are some thoughts on how we can start making all of our holidays brighter and improving our countries economic future:

1. Voting better from now on and more often. How does one vote better? Well, voting better comes from research and understanding what’s happening in the country from a go forward political platform, while paying attention to historically relevant activities of the people we are voting for in their current roles. [There is another option however, if you don’t want to understand the issues and simply have an extra $16 trillion you can give to the Government]

If you are already doing this (the research and understanding part)…hurray you’re already making a difference. If you have decided to just give the money…then thank you for reading my newsletter Mr. Warren Buffet.

2. Understanding what is happening economically. As Henry Ford said, “It is well enough that the people of this nation do not understand our banking or monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” Understanding the country’s finances gives you the best chance to be proactive vs. reactive when making decisions that impact your financial futures, possibly creating a beneficial economic revolution.

3. Depends. We should probably fear what we don’t know…but to avoid that, take out the time to build a plan to cover your down-side risk. If you feel insecure about building it yourself, get a financial professional to help you understand, and make some better or stronger choices for your personal and business future.

4. Starting with Ourselves and our Companies. And… a good start would be to take action now both personally and in business to best leverage your available assets. Protect yourself from the downside. Don’t stop spending; just don’t spend more money than you should for what you have, or better yet things that don’t enrich your potential.

Maybe what we should be really asking ourselves is how can we get involved locally to help increase “our collective voice of reason”? This question and answer benefits our future generation’s capabilities to make better choices and changes than…hmmmm maybe we, and our elected officials have in the past.

Oh yeah…you may be asking right now, “what about that Gift you mentioned?” Well, in my humble opinion this nation’s current financial cliff makes us take a deeper look at what is really going on, what changes are being made, and how they personally affect us. The real gift is that knowledge will bring better choices and changes that we will make in the future.

And while you may not fully agree with a single opinion, you have to agree better choices and better changes always create less stress and better possible gifts in the future.

What are your thoughts?

That’s right, Michael Phillips has over 1,000 phones and currently holds the World Record for the Largest Telephone Collection. Michael has been collecting telephones since the early 1980’s. He holds a variety of novelty and strange telephones. All of his phones are unique, vintage, and often rare. One of his prized collection pieces is a superman telephone that is over 30 years old and is worth approximately $1,000 dollars.

Obviously Michael’s rare and valuable phones would make him money if he decided to sell them. However, most of us our not lucky enough to make money off our phones. Most companies, in fact, spend way more than they need to to have a telephone line. The average line costs companies $56 per month (that does not even include long distance).

If a company had 1,000 phone lines their cost per month would be about $56,000. The yearly total adds up to a stunning $672,000 a year (and that is just to talk to your customers!). Limitless Technology Cost Reduction Specialists often reduce companies telecom spend by 25%. That means you would 14,000 dollars, a $168,000 yearly savings!

Think about what your company could do with $168,000? Would you start a new ad campaign? Maybe you would hire a few more employees? Or just maybe you would buy your top 168 employees an antique Superman telephone.

Recently, many major companies have been making green initiatives. To name a few of these Coca Cola, Walmart, and GE are all developing green initiatives. In the blog, we have come up with a few ideas that probably won’t make your company green certified, but will lower your costs while giving Mother Nature a little break.

1. Unplug all your chargers when your not using them – We know, it is a pain to go around your office and unplug your iPod, Cell Phone, iPad, Lap Top, Electric Shaver, and all those other things your have plugged-in in your office, but it could make a difference in your energy bill. Every charging device you have in your outlet uses energy regardless of if it is charging a device or not. If everyone in your office building has 5 chargers plugged-in, and you have 100 employees you have 500 chargers wasting energy and increasing your electric bill.

2. Communicate with your employees about being green- one segment about green solutions could really make a difference. One thing businesses do not do as much as they should is talk about orders they give to employees with the employees. Instead of using an email to tell employees to turn off light in their office, tell them directly and explain how it benefits the company and the environment. Employees are more likely to do the obvious green activities if their boss is telling them to do it directly.

3. Buy recycled printer cartridges- Refilling your old cartridges is much cheaper than buying new ones. This is because a large portion of the price you pay is for the canister. This reduces waste because old canisters will go in the trash which will go in a land fill somewhere in the world. Why pay extra for something you already have?

Good question, why pay extra for something you already have? Limitless Technology CRS makes sure that you pay the minimal amount for the telecom services you already have. We can even eliminate the unnecessary telecom services you have but do not need!

Call Limitless technology at (866) 504-4050 or go to www.limitlesstechnology.com
